The Brow Wiz | Beauty Favorite of the Week

Beauty Favorite of the Week

I have gone back to one of the products I used to rave about a while back when it came out. I am talking about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz eyebrow pencil.
I recently went on vacation, and when I was packing up my makeup I didn't want to over-pack. So instead of packing my eyebrow brush and the eyeshadow and my eyebrow gel, I decided to bring along my Brow Wiz instead. This would be a lot quicker and a lot less stuff to pack for my vacation.

I have fallen back in love with this product. I have reviewed the Brow Wiz previously, check out the post here: Review, Tutorial

I have it in the color Chocolate, this color is perfect. It matches my hair color but isn't too dark. I like that it stays all day long, doesn't smudge or wear off. It also works as a color and gel at the same time. It holds my eyebrow hairs in place.

I have been using it every single day. It has also really helped me speed up the time it takes me to do my makeup since I was able to cut out a bunch of other steps!

The ABH Brow Wiz gets a 10 out of 10 for me!

Primer | Makeup Part 1 | Back To Basics

I am so excited to be getting into the makeup part of my huge back to basics series. If you haven't already checked out my Skin Care Back to Basics mini series, go read all about it: Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3!

In the Makeup mini series, I will be talking about all the basic makeup product that you need and also all the extra goodies that you can add to your makeup routine to get the look that you want. Makeup is all about accentuating what you already have, and it's a ton of fun to play with.
I will be putting these posts up in the order that you would apply the makeup.

I am starting out with primer. Primer is intended to do exactly as it says, it is made to prime your skin before you go in with any other product on top. Primer is used to fill any lumps, bumps and any unevenness that you may have on the skin to smooth and even out the surface. Primer also is made to make anything that you put on top last all day long.

You can apply primer with your clean hands, you can also use a clean brush or even makeup sponges. Really it is up to you. I always just use my fingers to work the primer into my skin. It's super fast and I don't get any of my tools dirty.

There are many different types of primers that are used for all kinds of things. There are just regular primers that the sole purpose is to even out the skin tone and make the makeup last all day. These primers are intended to be used by any skin type. Here are a few examples of regular primers.

There are also primers that are made for people that have oily skin. These sort of primers usually will say that they are mattifying. These will make your skin look matte as soon as you apply them to the skin. They prevent oil from escaping during the day. Some people even use these sort of primers even if the are not wearing makeup to reduce the amount of oil that will show on the skin. Here are some examples of what a mattifying primer looks like. As you can see there are great options for any budget. Honestly they all do the same thing, choosing one comes down to personal preference.

There are also primers designed for dry skin. These kind of primers usually tend to say things like "hydrating" or "luminous." These primers are made to make your skin look like its glowing from the inside out. These are also great to use in the cold winter months, when the skin tends to get dry. Again, all companies carry these. So there's something out there for everyone.

Also out there are tinted primers. These primers are made with a tone or color to them already. These are great for people that don't need the coverage from a foundation because the primer has a small amount of tint to it. These work great for a little wash of color all over the skin on days where a full coverage foundation isn't needed. These also work great for people that need a lot of coverage, because you can then layer your foundation over top and it will give you more coverage.

Another great thing that primer is used for is with powder foundations. When you use a powder foundation you really need to make sure that the powder has something to stick to. Using a primer is the best way to get your powder foundation to stick and to stay put all day.

Let me know what primers are your favorite and how you like to use them.

Next up on my Makeup Back To Basics series is foundation and concealers!

March Favorites 2014 Makeup Shoes & TV Shows + Bloopers

March Favorites 2014

Hey Everyone! Happy APRIL!
March is over and that means another Favorites video!! I can't believe how fast these months are going. I wanted to share with you some of my new makeup favorites and some extra favorites in the end. I hope you guys have an awesome April!

Thank you so much for watching!!

MAKEUP
L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation. I have been obsessed with this foundation. It is medium coverage, but you can build it up if you want. I usually just wear one layer of the foundation for my everyday look. It has a satin finish which is so pretty! I love how it makes my skin look bright and healthy.

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. This primer works really well for a drug store primer. I do notice that my pores look a lot smaller when I use it. I love wearing primer under foundation because it makes it last the whole day.

Revlon Matte Balm in the color Light Pink. I have worn this color on my lips pretty much everyday. It is the perfect light pink color. I usually apply it and that's it, but it can be worn with a lipgloss too. It is soooo pretty, I can't get over how adorable this color is.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Color in Fuchsia Orchestra. I have featured this in its own blog post, check out the review here, and as the main attraction in a video, check out that video here. I have to say that this lip color changed my life. It is soooooooo amazing! Check out my video & blog post for more info on this product.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara. I used this mascara a long time ago. I recently picked another one up. I remember why I was so obsessed with it! It separates my lashes but still makes them look voluminous. And I love the length that it gives my lashes.

MAC Cosmetics Neutral Palette. I have been using my MAC neutral palette non stop this whole month. The eyeshadows are so pigmented and smooth, I just love using these eyeshadows. You can never go wrong with MAC shadows.

How I Highlight & Contour My Face

Highlighting & Contouring Tutorial

Hey guys,

One of my favorite things to do is to highlight and contour my face with makeup. I love it. It is an easy way to change your face shape. I have a pretty round face so I like to make my cheeks and jaw line more sculpted by contouring, and this is all possible with the magic of makeup.

Highlighting is when you use a product a few shades lighter than your skin tone to lighten certain parts of your face. Highlighting is to make things lighter, which brings more attention to those places.

Contouring is when you use a product a few shades darker than your skin tone to help recede the parts you don't want to bring attention to. You darken certain parts of your face giving the illusion of depth or shadows.

In this video I'll show you how I personally like to highlight and contour my face shape to make it less round. I hope this video is helpful!

Launching My YouTube Channel!

Beauty By Soriam on YouTube

After a few years of battling with myself I have finally decided to start my own YouTube channel. This is something that I have been wanting to do for a very long time, and I am finally getting it done.

I started off with this blog, where I write about reviews I do on products and also things I like to use every month. Now I want to expand my blog to making videos on YouTube. I really am very excited about moving forward with what I am passionate about. I want to be able to help and inspire other girls that maybe are just getting started with the whole beauty thing, or people that are just as passionate as I am with makeup.

I have so much respect for all the beauty gurus that are popular on YouTube, it isn't easy but they make amazing videos. I want to be able to reach out to people all over the world with my videos as well.

My videos will be beauty & fashion related, of course, and I will be coordinating blog posts with the videos. You will see more things from reviews to makeup tutorials.
I have been working really hard and learning all I can about editing and making videos, because I want to make something that will be beneficial to my readers and future viewers.

I really appreciate you for checking out my blog and I hope that you join me in this new stage.

Welcome to The Soriam Effect!!

I am starting this blog because of my love of all things beauty. It all started about 2 years ago when I began watching beauty videos on Youtube. I have been so inspired by all the talented beauty gurus that I decided to make this blog. I want other girls to be inspired like i was about the art of makeup.

Oh, the wonderful world of Youtube. Right away I was sucked into everything beauty, but especially Makeup! I absolutely LOVE makeup. At first I would watch the very intricate "costume-y" type of makeup that would completely change the person's face. Then as I slowly started discovering more beauty gurus, I started to learn about regular makeup looks for a day to day use. I also started seeing that it wasn't just makeup, but it was fashion, and hauls, and reviews. I just kept on getting inspired...

And that's when the spending started! Now I have my very own (not quite huge) makeup collection started and I cant wait to keep adding to it!

So with this blog I will be writing about how I see beauty products, and makeup and fashion. I'll try to do a little bit of everything. I will be completely honest and 100% real with you. I want you to know my honest opinions on everything.

I'll be doing tons of things, including reviews, hauls, products that I love, monthly favorites, outfit ideas, and lots more.

I hope you all keep coming back for more!

Thanks for checking out my blog!

:)
