Monthly Favorites: October 2013

My Favorite beauty products for the month of October

Today I will be talking about my favorite things for the month of October. I didn't do a favorites post for September because there was nothing new that I had tried and I didn't want to write about the same things again. But this past month I changed up a few things and I wanted to share with you what I was loving for the month of October.

I'm going to start off with my favorite lip combination. I have been using the L'Oreal Color Riche lipstick in the color #174 "Rose Taffeta." This color is so pretty, it's one of those "my lip color but better" colors. It is the perfect pink shade, and no matter what eye look I have this matches perfectly. The formula of the lipstick is smooth and moisturizing. It is my favorite everyday color.

I pair the lipstick with the Revlon Color Burst lipgloss in the color #002 "Crystal Lilac." This gloss has has almost the same pink shade as the L'Oreal lipstick but what makes it interesting is the purple sheen that it has. The purple sheen is very subtle, you can't see it on the lips but it gives an extra little touch. I really love these two lip products together. The gloss is pigmented enough that I even use it on its own sometimes.

My favorite foundation combination for this past month has been the L'Oreal True Match foundation in the shade "Natural Buff N3" and the MAC Studio Fix Fluid in the shade NC35.
I am in between shades right now as we move into fall and winter, so I have been using these two foundations together to make the perfect color for my skin right now. I love the True Match foundation, with one layer of the foundation I can get a light to medium coverage and it still looks very natural and not caked on.
I usually use more of the True Match foundation and a much smaller amount of the MAC foundation. But together these two foundations give me great coverage and looks amazing on the skin.

To blend the foundation into my skin I have been using the Beauty Blender sponge that I got from Sephora. I love the way that this sponge makes my foundation look. It makes blending the two foundations so easy. When I use the beauty blender I get an airbrushed finish. I just love it!

I have been using this next product pretty much everyday for the month of October, and it is the MAC Paint Pot in the color "Soft Ochre." This is the perfect base for eyeshadows. It covers the discoloration on my eyelids just like a concealer would, but it doesn't crease throughout the day, and it makes the eyeshadows that I put on top of it look amazing!

Another MAC product I have been using everyday is an eyeshadow, it is called Wedge. This is the perfect crease color. I usually apply this color into my natural crease with a big fluffy blending brush before applying any other color. By doing that it makes it so easy for me to go back and blend the darker colors from my lid and also the lighter color that I put under my brow. It is absolutely the perfect color to blend with.

My last favorite for the month of October is the Essie nail polishes, yes, all of them. I love the formula of these nail polishes, they go on super smooth and dry pretty quickly. I love that I can build up the color and it doesn't get all goopy and gross. The color selection is amazing, there is a color for whatever mood you are in. I am very happy with all the color that I own, and I can't wait to keep adding to the collection.

That is it for my October Favorites. I hope you all enjoyed this post and that you are having a great start to this holiday season!

Mini Sephora Haul

Mini Sephora Beauty Haul

I stopped into Sephora just to browse and to see if anything caught my eye. Of course a few things did, so I wanted to Share with you the things that I got. My favorite part of Sephora is the checkout line, where they have all the mini samples of really good products. I got a bunch of stuff from the checkout line that I have been wanting to try.

I love the smaller size of the products because if it turns out I don't like something its not a huge waste of money. So lets get into it...

The first thing I picked up is the Hoola Bronzer from Benefit. This is a soft matte bronzer. I wanted to try it out because I have heard great things about it. The bronzer was $28.

The next thing on the list is a product called Getting Cheeky by Benefit. It is a set that comes with 3 mini sizes of the Posie tint, Sun Beam, and Cha cha tint. I am really excited about trying these out. This was $17.

The next thing I got was the ever-so-famous Beauty Blender. I have heard a lot about this product, so I thought I would give it a try. The beauty Blender was $19.95.

The last few things are some skin care products. These are also things I have heard a lot about from beauty gurus on YouTube.

The first skin care product I got is the Origins Clear Improvement Active Charcoal Mask. I am really excited to try this and see how it works. The mask was $16.

Next skin care product is the Philosophy Hope in a Jar moisturizer. This was $15.

The last product I purchased was the Caudalie Beauty Elixir. This is supposed to be a makeup refresher, but can be used without makeup as well. This was $18.

I am really looking forward to trying all these products out.

Anastasia Brow Wiz Review

My thoughts on the Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil
I purchased this product because I heard a lot about it from many beauty gurus on YouTube. Before I started using this brow pencil, I used to use a small eyeliner brush and MAC's eye shadow in the color Mystery to fill in and define my brows. I liked this method because it worked okay for me and my brows looked really good, but I wanted to try some new things. I finally decided to give the Anastasia Brow Wiz a try and I find that I like it better than using eye shadow.

I purchased the Brow Wiz from Ulta Beauty, and it retails for $21.
You can also get it from Sephora or the Anastasia Beverly Hills website.
The Brow Wiz is a mechanical eye brow pencil, it also has a small spoolie on the opposite end. It comes in six different colors:
Ash Blonde - For light to dark blonde hair
Caramel - For light brown hair, auburn hair and strawberry blonde hair
Medium Ash - For light to medium brown and silver hair
Soft Brown - For medium brown hair
Brunette - For medium brown to black hair
Ebony - For dark brown hair and black hair
My eyebrows are not light colored or sparse at all. I have full dark brows, but I love refining them and making them look perfect. Even if I don't have any other makeup on I always put on my brows.
I personally like a very groomed brow with an arch. I use the Brow Wiz to fill in and to extend the tail of my eyebrows a little. I really enjoy using this pencil because it is really easy. It makes my brows look more natural than using an eye shadow.
With the spoolie on the other end I can easily blend the color and gives the brows a softer look. The pencil is a little on the pricey side but it works like a charm and it is easy to use. I still haven't used up the whole thing so I don't know how long it's going to last.

Overall, I really like this product and I will be repurchasing it when I run out. Use the description for each color to easily choose the best pencil for your hair color.
