How I Trim My Ends - Hair Tutorial - DIY

How I Trim My Ends

Hey guys,
Today I wanted to show you how I trimmed my ends. In my last video I showed you guys how I bleached my hair to get the ombre look. Making my hair lighter at the ends made my hair look super damaged and not cute. So I wanted to trim off my split ends to make my hair look healthy and shiny.

I used mostly the thinning shears for my hair, because it helps make the cut a little more natural, instead of using regular shears that would make the cut look blunt and harsh.
The only time I used the regular shears was when I had a few really long hairs that I couldn't get with the thinning shears.

I am not a professional, and this is the first time I trimmed my ends, so please be very careful when doing this yourself. A good thing to keep in mind is that you can always cut more, start off with just a little hair and work your way up to more hair. It's easier to take away hair, it's not so easy to add hair when you cut too much off.

I really like how it turned out because all the dead ends are off and I got the V-shape I wanted. I hope this video helps you out and saves you some trips to the salon. Thanks for watching!

DIY Ombre Hair Tutorial - Brunette to Blonde

DIY Ombre Hair
Hey everyone,

Today's video is going to be about how I got the ombre hair. I wanted to change up my hair for the spring and summer. Instead if going to a salon and getting charged an arm and a leg for this look, I decided to do it myself. I am super happy with the way it turned out.

I filmed the process because I wanted to show you guys that this look is possible at home. I actually forgot to film the part where I applied the toner. But I'll be explaining how I did everything step by step below.

Supplies:
Salon Care 30 Volume Cream Developer
Salon Care Powder Lightener
Blond Brilliance Perfect Blonde Toner in the color Platinum
Mixing bowl
Brush
Bottle applicator
Hair clips
Hair Foil

I got everything at Sally's Beauty Supply Store

Step by Step Instructions:

First Process:
Add about half of the packet of bleach into the mixing bowl, and add a little bit of developer at a time. You want it to be a creamy consistency but not runny. The ratio should be 1:1.

Start off by dividing the hair into 4 quadrants.
I started with the front sections.
Take smaller horizontal sections of hair.
In an upside down triangle shape take smaller pieces of hair.
With the lightener start applying it in the middle of the hair shaft, slowly bring that lightener up about 1-2 inches away from the roots. Be sure to only get the lightener on the top layer of hair-Don't soak it through.

Then using the back of your hand completely soak through the ends of the hair.
Leaving a space in between the highlighted hair take another small section of hair in the upside down triangle shape and repeat the process.
Start in the middle of the hair shaft, then work the lightener up almost to the roots, and then completely soak the ends of the hair.
When all of the highlights are finished, take all of that section and soak the ends that have no bleach on it.

Then use the hair foil to cover that section of hair. Using the foil is key because the lightener only works when it is wet, once it's dry it won't process any more.

You will repeat these same steps throughout all of the hair, working from the front of the head to the back.
When you finish with all the hair, you're going to wait for about 45 minutes or more, depending on how light or dark your hair color is. Make sure to keep checking your hair to see how it lifts.
I left the lightener on for about 45 minutes, but I used a hair dryer to speed up the process.

After the 45 minutes where up, I rinsed the lightener out and shampooed my hair. I DID NOT condition it.
Then I towel dried it as much as possible.
This is where the toner comes in.
In the bottle applicator I poured in the toner and the developer and mixed it well. With gloves on, I used my fingers to massage the toner in the ends of my hair, anywhere that I had applied the lightner. I tried to use all of the toner.
Leave the toner on for 20 minutes or less. Don't leave it on for more than 20 minutes because it could turn your blonde into purple.
Then I rinsed the toner out and shampooed and conditioned using a purple shampoo and a deep conditioner. Using purple shampoo will help with reducing any brassiness or orange tones in the hair.
The last thing I did was blow dry my hair on a medium setting without a brush to prevent breakage.

Second Process
I waited a week before lightening my hair again.
I divided all of my hair into the 4 quadrants. and started from the front of my head towards the back.
Taking smaller sections from the quadrants I started applying the lightener to the hair that was already lightened.
You want to be careful not to apply it to the dark hair because it will be orange when everything is done.
So I continue taking small sections and getting all the hair that has been lightened already.
When my head is completely done, I let the bleach sit in my hair for 45 minutes, checking it every once in a while.
After it had finished processing I rinsed it out and shampooed it with purple shampoo. I did not condition it.
I mixed the toner and developer in the bottle applicator and on towel dried hair I applied the toner.
I let the toner site for 15 minutes. Then I rinsed it out and shampooed with purple shampoo and conditioned it with a deep conditioner.
I let my hair air dry for 3-4 hours. Then I went in and straightened it with a round brush and a hair drier on the medium heat setting.
DO NOT use a flat iron to straighten the hair the same day you lighten it. Your hair will burn off!

So that is it!
I hope you guys found this helpful. Thanks for watching!!

MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter Review

Prep and Prime Highlighter Review
Hey guys!
I hope you guys are having a great week so far. I won't be uploading any videos this week, I will be posting on my regular schedule next week. So in the meantime I wanted to write a quick review on a recent purchase. I went to the MAC store recently and picked up a few things that I have been wanting, and one of those things is the MAC Prep and Prime Highlighter in the color Light Boost.
I made a video where I showed you guys all the things I got at MAC, if you want to check that out click here: MAC Makeup Haul Spring 2014

I wanted to try this product out because I love me some highlighter. I think it makes the whole face look luminous and pretty, and I love it. I always just used concealers as cream highlighters, and that works really well, but sometimes it can get a little cakey, and as I have established, that's not a good look.

So I wanted to try something that was actually made to be a highlighter. So I picked it up. I have been using it every day since I got it, and I have to say I am sooooooo happy with how it looks on my skin. I love that it has a yellow undertone that complements my skin tone perfectly. It is super creamy and easy to blend, and it also blends amazingly into my foundation.
I have been putting this around my mouth, around my nose, under my eyes and also down the center of my face. I just use my foundation brush, the Sigma F80 Flat Top Kabuki brush, to blend it into my skin. It literally takes like 10 seconds and it is all blended and looking perfect. I love that it doesn't make me look super ghostly white because it has that yellow undertone. It brightens my face and makes my skin look healthy.

I really am loving this product and how easy it is to apply compared to when I use a concealer as a highlighter.
I would give this product a 5 out of 5. It is super easy to blend into my foundation, it is light and creamy, it makes my face look amazingggg.

March Favorites 2014 Makeup Shoes & TV Shows + Bloopers

March Favorites 2014

Hey Everyone! Happy APRIL!
March is over and that means another Favorites video!! I can't believe how fast these months are going. I wanted to share with you some of my new makeup favorites and some extra favorites in the end. I hope you guys have an awesome April!

Thank you so much for watching!!

MAKEUP
L'Oreal True Match Lumi Foundation. I have been obsessed with this foundation. It is medium coverage, but you can build it up if you want. I usually just wear one layer of the foundation for my everyday look. It has a satin finish which is so pretty! I love how it makes my skin look bright and healthy.

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer. This primer works really well for a drug store primer. I do notice that my pores look a lot smaller when I use it. I love wearing primer under foundation because it makes it last the whole day.

Revlon Matte Balm in the color Light Pink. I have worn this color on my lips pretty much everyday. It is the perfect light pink color. I usually apply it and that's it, but it can be worn with a lipgloss too. It is soooo pretty, I can't get over how adorable this color is.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Color in Fuchsia Orchestra. I have featured this in its own blog post, check out the review here, and as the main attraction in a video, check out that video here. I have to say that this lip color changed my life. It is soooooooo amazing! Check out my video & blog post for more info on this product.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara. I used this mascara a long time ago. I recently picked another one up. I remember why I was so obsessed with it! It separates my lashes but still makes them look voluminous. And I love the length that it gives my lashes.

MAC Cosmetics Neutral Palette. I have been using my MAC neutral palette non stop this whole month. The eyeshadows are so pigmented and smooth, I just love using these eyeshadows. You can never go wrong with MAC shadows.

L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Color Review

L'Oreal Lip Color Review
Hey guys,

I wanted to write this quick review on the L'Oreal Colour Riche Extraordinaire Lip Color. I have the color 106 Fuchsia Orchestra and I purchased it at my local Walmart for about $10.
I had never tried this product but I had to buy it if only for the color. It is the most beautiful fuchsia I have ever seen. It is a gorgeous color.

The packaging is a little weird, the larger part is where the lip color is and the skinnier part is the applicator.
This lip product looks like a lip gloss, it has the same texture and consistency as most lip glosses. The only difference is that this product has the pigmentation of a lipstick. It is super smooth when being applied. The product is very comfortable on the lips, and the lasting power is beyond amazing.

I usually apply this product on early in the morning and it's very shiny at first. After a about an hour or so, it kind of dries but it still is very comfortable. It doesn't dry out my lips, and the product doesn't crack or bleed. The color stays on my lips for close to 8 hours, which blows my mind.

I really have nothing bad to say about this lip product. I recommend this product if you want something long lasting and pigmented.

I really love this product, and I loooove the color.

Perfect At Home Manicure Every Time

My Perfect at Home Manicure

I love getting my nails done. But it does get pricey going to the nail salon every 2 weeks to get a fill. So I started painting my own nails at home, but they would chip and smudge right after applying. Over the years of trial and error, I have finally figured out a way to get my nail polish to stay nice, shiny and without a chip for up to a week and a half. I have been really loving this method of applying my nail polish, it's a little time consuming but I grab my iPad and watch one of my favorite shows on HuluPlus, and I have a mini spa day.
Here is how I get my perfect at home manicure!

Check out the video here: Perfect At Home Manicure Every Time!

You will need the following things:
Nail polish remover
Cotton balls
Nail file
Nail buffer cube
Cuticle cream
Cuticle pusher
Nail polish
Top coat

You can get all these things from pretty much any drugstore or a Sally Beauty Supply Store.

The first thing I do is remove the old nail polish. I use a regular cotton ball and a CVS brand nail polish remover.

Then I use a little cuticle cream, I like the cuticle cream from Avon, and let it sit for a while before I start removing the cuticle from the nail.
I always remove the cuticle from the nail, just because I think the nail polish looks much better. If you get nail polish on your cuticles it can make the nail polish chip and come off much faster.

I use the cuticle pusher to push the cuticle off the nail. I use the cuticle nipper when there is a lot of extra skin, I just cut it off gently.

Then I use a regular nail file to shape my nails. I like them squared off. But you can do it however you like.

Once they are all shaped perfectly and there isn't any extra skin on my nails, I use the nail buffer cube on the surface of the nail. I do this step because this is what makes the nail polish "grab" the nail. The nail polish lasts longer on the nails when you do this step.

After that I use a cotton ball with a little nail polish remover to get all the dust and any cuticle cream that might have been left on the nail.

This is when I start painting my nails. I pick the color that I want and I start with my pinkie nail. I try not to have too much or too little nail polish on the brush. If you have too little polish the result will be streaky, but if you have too much it will be a gooey mess and it will take FOREVER to dry.
I usually put on two coats of nail polish. While one hand dries I do the other hand.

Note: I don't use a base coat on my nails because this makes the nails chip, since the color polish would be going onto a super smooth surface.

Once the color polish dries, I check to make sure there isn't anything messed up. And then I go in with the top coat. I do two layers of the top coat to give it the super shinny effect. I'm not into the whole matte nail polish trend.

And that's it! It is pretty simple, but a little time consuming.
This method gives me about a week and a half of amazing nail polish.
